To summarise: Victoria University (Wellington, New Zealand) has just decided that it will accept no more enrolments from undergraduates this year. Wait, no, that’s only DOMESTIC undergraduates. Apparently this is due to a lack of resources and the fact that admitting more students would compromise outcomes for those currently enrolled.
However, apparently this doesn’t apply to international students. You wanna know why? Coz international students get shat on. In a colloquial sense, not a mutually enjoyable scat-play sense.
The rationale for cutting off entry to domestic students (dubious in itself), clearly does not apply to international students- because int’l students are being milked for their money. The mere fact that enrolment is cut off to domestic students shows how much of a big earner our ‘foreign’ students are, and demonstrates once again how tertiary education is sorely underfunded in NZ. Fees are being increased every year, and at Victoria it’s by the maximum amount allowed by law, almost without fail.
THIS MADNESS HAS TO END. STUDENT DEBT IS AT 11 BILLION. WAT?
That’s all I have to say: wat?
